A LEGEND is Born
Don Dulli was born in the Delta of Greenville, MS on August 4, 1990 at King's Daughters hospital to James & Virginia Davis. He was raised in Carver Circle and his family's bloodline goes back to the '70s in these projects, both Mom & Dad. A brother of two, Dulli's passion for music started in house. His father was the only child of Cora Davis, a handicapped but strong influence in his life. With no father and forced to work at an early age, his father yielded discipline; through hard work he set the tone for his family. A big lover of music, James took his earnings and bought tons of record albums - collecting all of the greatest music through the decades of 1960-1990. This collection included Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Bee Gees, Journey, Rick James, Prince, Michael Jackson and many, many more. This inspired his brother, "Kepa Ruffin", and Dulli himself.
The Making of a King
In 2003 - 2004, his brother debuted "Candy Living" locally and the reception was enormous. Watching his brother sell many CDs, performing in shows, listening to the local high school bands playing his tunes, and DJs spining the record at the local skating rink "Roller World" intrigued him deeply. During this time he helped his brother sell CDs and learned the ropes at an early age. At 14, he opened up for his brother's performance (and another local group on the rise, "The Committee"). In middle school he started recording on tape cassettes with other talent from his neighborhood; he recorded officially at the age of 15 with none other than his brother "Kepa." This inspired him to learn how to engineer and at the same age, with a family computer hardly being used, Dulli embarked upon a venture recording music on his own. By the end of his high school career, he had recorded and released three mix-tapes with a group he started named, "Silver City/Jumpset."
A Legendary Journey
After going to college and dropping out early due to family issues and a newborn baby girl, Dulli continued to do music in North Carolina, where he was signed to an independent label by the name of "11 Groves", based out of Dublin and Raleigh, North Carolina. During this time, he headlined the mixtape, "Loyalty" - DJ'd by "Bigga Rankin" and also released the hit single "Fresh Out" as the artist "Dullie Do." Also while being signed, Dulli ran across a long time friend (also a music producer) through music from a band that extended throughout the years who went by, "Twon On The Beat", "Twon" flew Dulli to Los Angeles, California in 2014 to become more creative as well as begin working on Dulli's debut album. Twon is responsible for over 80% of his beats and his signature sound.
In 2016, Dulli released and executive produced the record "Anything" with his brother, "Kepa Ruffin" (Clean Cut), and then re-released it on his solo debut album, "800 Degreez" under the artist name "Dullie Do." This record has been a viral sensation and is their biggest song to date (although acquiring success separately) with over 15,000 audio plays and over 28,000 visual plays. Although delayed, Dulli's rise as an artist dates back ten years - yet he is better than he has ever been now. Since 2014, he has been working diligently to release great content, though having to endure a lack of leadership and lack of knowledge coming from a culture-less state in music; who has yet to prove that it can produce home grown talent. He's here to prove "Anything" can and will be done. Don Dulli is looking to be one of the first people to come from where he's from and introduce his culture to the world.
